Diabetes FAQ

Here are some FAQ’s that will hopefully answer any of your questions, but email me if you have any specific questions that you may have.

Q. What is diabetes?

A. Simply put diabetes is the body’s inability to break down sugar into an acceptable that can be distributed by the blood stream.

Q. How does the body do that?

A. The pancreas is an organ that produces chemical called insulin.  Insulin has the ability to break down sugar so that it can be acceptable to the body’s blood stream.

Q. How does this affect the blood stream?

A. Sugar without insulin turns into a thick sap that unless treated with insulin will block blood from delivering needed nutrients and oxygen throughout the body system.

Once this happens the functions begin to die off causing blindness, heart disease, gangrene, kidney blockage just to name a few.

Q. Why not just stop eating sugar?

A. That is a common question asked and it only shows how important our educational task is.  Sugar is produced automatically by the body. Even if you don’t eat anything all day nature will still produce sugar in the body.In fact there are three main elements that make life possible.  Water, oxygen and energy are the key life giving factors.

We all know how important keeping the body hydrated is as well as the need to breath.  But what we seem to forget is how we get energy to sustain our life.  That is through sugar!  Everything we eat is turned into sugar or carbohydrates.  Don’t get fooled sugar and carbohydrates are one in the same. As a car needs gas the body needs sugar. As the carburetor changes the gas into an acceptable form of energy for the engine so does the pancreas for the body.

Q. How do I know if I have diabetes?

A. Everyone should have regular check ups with their doctor who will administer blood tests.  However the most common signs of diabetes are the need to urinate frequently along with tremendous thirst. The lack of energy, tingling in the feet and fingers may also be an indication of diabetes.

How do you get diabetes?

In most cases it is heredity based decease but it can also be developed by poor eating habits, lack of exercise and over weight.

Q. Can I get diabetes through touching, blood transfers or sexual activities?

A. No, no, no it is not a contagious disease some even call it a condition. But it is hereditary.
